The American Legion Auxiliary, founded in 1919 is a volunteer-based organization with nearly 550,000 members. It administers numerous programs, volunteers countless hours and raises millions of dollars to support veterans and their families. Unit 179 of San Anselmo, formed in 2010, is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-discriminatory, and nonprofit organization with 501(c)(19) tax-exempt status dedicated to serving military personnel, veterans, and their families.
The mission of the Lodi House program is to provide compassionate support, counseling and shelter to homeless women and children to empower them to live courageous, healthy and independent lives. Our unique program assists single mothers with finding employment, developing a monthly budget and savings plan, and working towards finding affordable housing.
Little Wishes grants the immediate and ongoing wishes of chronically and critically ill, hospitalized children easing their discomfort and bringing them moments of joy. Little Wishes helps prevent children from losing their identity by tapping into their passions. Children facing difficult medical journeys can identify what makes them happy and wish for something that will fill their hearts and brighten their darkest days. These “little” wishes become a bright light, providing a sense of control when so much is taken away with illness. Receiving wishes helps our patients replace anxiety, pain, and fear with hope, comfort, and joy
Stop AAPI Hate is a national coalition fighting against racism and racial injustice targeting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Together, we work with local communities and government stakeholders to document the rise of anti-AAPI hate and dismantle the systems that allow it to persist.
Since 2011, Black Girls Code has engaged girls of color with computer programming education to nurture their careers in tech. We partner with schools, local organizations, and dedicated volunteers to offer in-person and virtual learning opportunities for girls and women of color aged 7-25. Our programs go beyond coding skills, equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence to realize their dreams.
